Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

This weekend we had a family first.  Before Bitty was a thought in our head we talked about taking a weekend to spend with just one of our kids at least once a year.  We saw this as a time to really connect and bond, talk about things we might not otherwise have had the chance, to slow down and really savor our kids at the ages they are.  How perfect that we had a girl!  So Nip and B can have a manly weekend and she and I can have a girlie weekend.  And so started a new tradition this past weekend.  Nip and B headed to the cabin.  This is where Nip spent time as a boy doing boy things and he was so excited to share that with B.  I'm working on buttering Nip up to do a guest post on this because my heart just overflows when I hear of the fun they had.

Since Bitty is well, bitty we just stayed home.  First we had her 1 year photo shoot.  She was not at all happy about this.  I'll share some of Bitty's new fears with you later in the week.  Let's just say we picked three shots out of like 12 the photographer was able to capture that didn't include tears and snot.

We kissed our guys goodbye then set to making guacamole and dump cake.  I know, they go so well together.  She was quite the little helper in the kitchen, taking everything out out of the bottom cabinets and sucking on the heart shaped pancake mold.  Some day she will help me stir while she wears a ruffly little apron, I just know it!

Check out that post-cherry blueberry-dump-cake drool string!

We grazed like cows all weekend.  We did some Christmas shopping.  We hung out in pjs a lot.  We dressed up like Elton John.  We built a fire.  We cuddled.  We snuggled.  I was in heaven.

Sunday I had to go to class (I know, school on Sunday is drag but there's parking galore and mostly adults like myself so I do it) so my dad came to watch Bitty until the boys got home.  I was so grateful he could make it.  I'm clinging onto an A for dear life.  The boys and I all got home around the same time and my dad stayed for dinner.  Homemade chicken noodle soup and rolls.

We wrapped up our weekend with family game night, baths, some pre-bed ninja fighting (because we all know the best way to get a kid calmed for sleep is to run around like ninjas).

And that was our weekend.  In the future I see Bitty and I taking weekend trips to go shopping or to some boy band concert she is just dying to see.  For now, I'll enjoy her baby time when she doesn't care about anything other than hugs, kisses and a clean diaper.
