I am so excited to review
Nora Jones' new cd Featuring which is available in stores and on
Amazon starting TODAY. I received it last Friday and I haven't stopped listening to it since. You see, I am one of those people that love what I love and don't like what I don't like and I say it either way. I am also finicky, rarely listen to a song all the way through, make a judgement in the first three cords and I've been known in my teen years to chuck a cd out the window. Yes, I know this is illegal and I would go back and pick them all up if I just knew where they were.
Let me tell you a little about this cd. The tracks were recorded from 2001 through 2010 and each track is a different artist featuring
Norah Jones. And when I say a different artist. I mean collectively, they couldn't be more different. Everything from the Foo Fighters to Willie Nelson, Outkast to Gillian Welch, Ray Charles to Ryan Adams. Seriously, you start out with jazz that makes you get all soulful until the guy in the car next to you looks creepily happy to see you, sink into some cool rock, guitar plucking country, blues, chicky rock, more country, more blues, absolutely awesome classics re-made just as good if not better than the first (and trust me, I don't take re-makes lightly! There's even some hip hop! Now, this is where MommaAmma interjects with a wagging finger and says don't play #9 with the kids in the car, I love the song but I don't love the use of the N word because I don't think it is okay coming out of anyone's mouth in any form and while I'm all about free speech, not when it comes to my kiddies dropping vernacular bombs so just be warned. This isn't some 10 song cd, nooo, ther are 18 fabulous tracks, ahhh, I'm in love. You never get bored because every song or two switches to a different genre that is equally awesome and unique. Every song is dripping with gorgeous sounds and unique flavor. There are no limits to what
Norah Jones can do. I really really really love this cd.
Here are my faves (so hard to pick and seriously this might change by the time I click "Post"):
3. Turn Them (Sean Bones featuring Norah Jones)
4. Baby It's Cold Outside (Willie Nelson featuring Norah Jones)
5. Bull Rider (Norah Jones and Sasha Dobson)
9. Life is Better (Q-Tip featuring Norah Jones)
13. Loretta (Norah Jones featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings)
You can put this on your stocking stuffer wish list but I suggest going out and buying it so be immediately enjoyed. It's perfect for this time of year with slow, smooth and sultry sounds. Turn on your car's seat warmer and push play (for you busy ones). Or pour some hot cocoa and listen to this in front of the fire (for you cheesy ones). Or go
here (for those of you who download your songs). You'll be so pleasantly surprised and/or shocked at the price to download. Want to hear the snip-its? Just go
here. So however you do it, go get this to enjoy for yourself. I really think you'll like it too!
The Mumbo Jumbo: I received this cd at no charge to review. As always, all opinions are (abundant and) my very own. By posting I am entered into a random drawing for a $50 gift card from One2One Network.
I had no idea she had done a collaboration album! So excited! This is definitely going on my wish list!!
