Santa Puppy

Last Saturday when B was at his dad's for the weekend we set out puppy shopping.  Bitty really loves her new seat with snack tray.  She's feeling quite big!

Our first trip wasn't a success.  As hard as it was to say bye to this little girl it just didn't feel right.  The sellers seemed shady.  It looked like there might be a bigger operation a couple houses down the road.  Hmm.  And the mom had worms.  And they only let us look at the parents for like 30 seconds.  And they offered no certificate of breed (although it was pretty obvious) and no refund on hereditary disorders in their first 6 months (a pretty simple request if they were confident).

So we went to a couple shelters and realize he'd have to be hawks to get a lab at one of those.

Then Nip found someone.  There were 10 chocolate and yellow labs.  It was mom's first patch.  Both the mom and dad are super beautiful and sweet.  They are the 6th generation from a certified papa and some award winning field dogs.  They live with a baby and toddler and the puppies have had lots of face time with the toddler.  It all was just perfect!  Saturday I spent a mint on all the poochie stuff we need.  Thanks to our brother-in-law (who is an awesome vet) for answering our millions of questions to make sure we have the best dog and give it the best stuff!  We go to pick up our new girl today.  We're going to attempt "Santa brought it early" when he gets home from school so wish us luck!

Oh, and is if all the pics of the kids weren't enough now you'll get a bunch of these!  I work from home and no longer will be alone all day.  I think I have a new best friend!  I hope she doesn't pee in my shoes.

  2. Aww, she's adorable! :)

We picked out a chocolate lab from much the same scenario as the last home you described, and she was wonderful from Day 1 with our children.

I didn't know how very high energy they could be though and we did end up adopting our lab to a family with a farm when she was about a year old. Athena didn't ever chew our stuff, but we made sure she had raw hide bones from Day 1! She was incredibly sweet, and I hope your new pup will bring lots of happiness to your house!

By the way, you won my $20 Shutterfly GC and I need to either send you the code or mail the actual card. Send me a message? anna{at}lawrencegirls{dot}com
